This is very interesting subject.
I expect that tghe new Midbass horns will have somewhere 108dB sensitively anechoicly. The driver is 99dB and the hyperbolic curve has much more EQ then Tractrix and that is more important the EQ that work mu...

Output transformer. Here is
what the thing become complicated. Of you drive ultra-low impedance with step
down transformer then your secondary turns will decrease. They primary will
have whatever they have for all cas...
1) I would like to try amorphous core foe my LF transformer. I know, I know, the amorphous core is not LF core but I know what I hear and if I found somebody who would be able to make for me d...

Ok, I just thought of something... The 6C33Cs which make so much heat are located on the right side of the amp, one of these is within close proximity of the right side transformer... Is it possible that the incorrectly biased tube was heated be...

OK, after some experiments I did find something that reduced dynamics what Avicenna was on line. Avicenna has two power transformers. First one is a low voltage (6.3V/1A) transformer to feed Avicenna’s distortion analyses, oscillators, frequency PLL,...

Hi Romy,Not sure exactly what you mean by SET-minded speakers. Please elaborate on that issue. I don't quite see what about your horns would make an OTL perform any worse than a SET. What I proposed to you, the concept of a OTL SET ...

Hi,
Thanks for the info about transformers. It is as I expected, however, that these passive devices are not passive sonically at all. I agree with you that the higher quality of the transformers should lessen the effects ...
Anotheraxiom was to make it DC coupled so that there is nothing but tubes in the chain.
Of course I was not very precise here: not pictured but a 1:1+1 phase splitting input transformeris inevitable...still I believe it is...

Is there any technical reason that you use a 400V transformer to feed the driver tube? The plate voltage on 6E5P is only +200V. Therefore from my point of view, a 220-240V transformer would be enough....

One last thing I can do is buy some Mu metal sheet on Ebay and lined up the transformer can and potted with wax as you said, but that's too much work and probably do not work as well as on a separate chassis, so for now I will listen the way it is an...
That upper rolloff in the OPT comes from a number of distributed capacitances and leakage inductances in the transformer - it will not be a simple filter. Lots of transformers have weird resonances up at the top of their range. In fa...
So, at least in commonly observable and observed terms and when used as intended the S&B line transformers are notably more capable at low frequencies than your LF OPT's in the Super Milq.
I have no doubt but ther...

Well, I normally use tube rectifier with my LC filters and, I don´t know exactly why, I haven´t had ringing problems at switching. I think could be tubes switch in a gentler way than silicon. I recommend you use an appropriated snubber circuit across...

I know that there are some people who would like to hear form me about my findings regarding the Singe-Stage Milq. I do not talk about it for a while but not because I do nothing in that direction. The decision was made to convert my 3 stages Super M...

I can only offer a simple solution to this problem.Decide on which row you wish to place digital services. I would also include anything that has a switched mode power supply because of the Y capacitor thing. Assume Row 1 will be used for digital s...

Allo Romy,Big topic this! I will write something suitably detailed when I get a chance this weekend, but you're right - the transformer is key and one that is optimised for the task in hand is absolutely the way to go and something that not many peop...
There are a few good shops in Paris that have shelves and drawers full of components. And, across the channel ….
Yes, you might experiment with transformers. Sowers have good reputation but I never used them...

A month or so ago I came to an occasion to fish a large isolation transformer. It is not that I believe in isolation transformers as all my former experiments with them delivered quite gruesome sonic result. However, since the APS people are still no...

Every professional microphone on the planet is symmetrical and needs a transformer or symmetrical amp to work properly. Do we have an issue right up front? I am not sure why symmetry should be the scape goat here. Granted, nonlinearities in the trans...

actually I agree with Romy, to a degree.... If the amplifier is a push pull device, using my output and input splitter devices of course, then an interstage transformer is a much better choice than rc coupling. Using transformers designed to the crit...

What it to have DC SS amp, in the way I have it but do not drive ULF from an amps but instead to put between amp output stags and ULF an 1:1 transformer, soft of a galvanic buffer. Would it be possible that galvanic connection would do some softness ...

KOTriode, am and not exactly following what you are saying. You are talking about mechanical noise coming from a transformer or that fact that transformer arouses mechanically of inductively some noise that you can hear from loudspeakers? THe Cat...

Looking at that diagram, it seems as though Romy has made an artificial centre tap for a conventional filament transformer. You can either get a centre tapped transformer, make an artificial centre tap as shown or not bother with a centre tap at all...

Not a refrigerator but a serious output transformer. This is from the new Audio Note (UK) Ultra Amplifier, something here and here.Cheers!...
